2010 Annual Conference

We all know that – more than ever – effective communication is at the heart of managing a successful business. Over the past few years, we have withstood exhausting demands on our skills and time as companies and governments dig themselves out from the latest recession. We have also experienced demanding stakeholders, who insist the communications we produce are concise, effective, enticing, exciting, dynamic, customized…and inexpensive.

The reality is that today’s audiences – whether internal or external – are more diverse and sophisticated, with much higher expectations and demands. They have access to news and information 24 hours a day, 7 days a week not to mention the blogosphere and a myriad of social networking sites. And access to these tools and media are opening up doors to new cultural identities and ways of doing things.

As communicators in the year 2010, a fundamental question staring us in the  face right now is age-old, but has an answer that changes by the day.  Who are our audiences, and how can we effectively communicate with them?

That’s where our theme “The Thousand Faces of Communication” comes in. Look for an exciting line-up of presentations and workshops which will not only help you answer this question, but give you the skills and tools to communicate in a changing world of social media and diversity. And what better place to talk about diversity than Montreal, a European city with distinct North American flair, where English and French coexist, and where doing things differently is a way of life.

So don’t delay – plan on attending the 2010 I.F.C.A. Annual Conference in Montreal, Quebec, from October 17–20 2010. And for those of you from below the 49th parallel – bring your passport!
